You have a choice of email programs to use, viz:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Mac&#8217;s free, built-in <strong>Mail.app<\/strong> email program, or<\/li>\n<li>The commercial<strong> Microsoft Outlook<\/strong> email program, included in the Microsoft Office 2011 suite, along with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Faculty\/Staff Instructions\u2014Microsoft Outlook<\/h3>\n<p>All faculty and staff receive a Carleton Outlook\/Exchange email account, and for the majority, MS Office 2011 is the recommended option for reading their Carleton email, as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The MicroSoft Office 2011 suite, which includes <strong>Microsoft Outlook<\/strong>, is available to all Staff (or equivalent) and Faculty.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Outlook for the Mac provides access to all the features of the Outlook\/Exchange calendar\u2014e.g. booking appointments with staff\/faculty, as well as many meeting rooms on-campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Configuration of Microsoft Outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install MS Office 2011 for Mac (available from <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/ccs\/contact\/\">Hardware Services<\/a> for a small distribution fee).<\/li>\n<li>Apply any updates: Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and check for Updates: Help &gt; Check for Updates<\/li>\n<li>Launch Microsoft Outlook for Mac<\/li>\n<li>Enter your Account Description, Full name, E-mail address, Authentication Method, User name and password:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Account description<\/strong>: Carleton Exchange\u00a0\u2190 whatever description is meaningful to you<\/li>\n<li><strong>Full name<\/strong>: e.g. Jane Doe<\/li>\n<li><strong>E-mail address<\/strong>: e.g. &#x6a;a&#x6e;&#101;d&#x6f;&#101;&#x40;&#99;u&#x6e;&#101;&#x74;&#46;c&#x61;&#114;&#x6c;&#x65;t&#x6f;&#110;&#46;&#x63;&#97;\u00a0\u2190 Note: no spaces, and the @cunet in the address<\/li>\n<li><strong>Method<\/strong>: User Name and Password\u00a0\u2190 This is the default pop-up choice<\/li>\n<li><strong>Username<\/strong>: CUNET\\janedoe \u2190 i.e. CUNET\\your MyCarletonOne-userid<\/li>\n<li><strong>Password<\/strong>: Your MyCarletonOne password<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/iteam\/wp-content\/uploads\/Microsoft-OutlookScreenShot001.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13609 alignnone\" alt=\"Image of MS Outlook configuration showing sample address, userid, and password entry\" src=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/iteam\/wp-content\/uploads\/Microsoft-OutlookScreenShot001.png\" width=\"411\" height=\"343\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Student\u00a0<\/strong><b>Instructions\u2014Mail.app<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Everyone taking a course at Carleton receives a student email account.
