This is not something that the sender explicitly chose to do, but rather a <em>hiccup<\/em> that can occur\u00a0occasionally<\/p>\n<p>Apple provides information on how you can contact the sender to adjust their\u00a0Outlook settings so this does not happen again:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mac OS X Mail: What is a winmail.dat attachment?<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT2614\">support.apple.com\/kb\/HT2614<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However this is not always practical. Alternatively, there are\u00a0a number of free and commercial\u00a0OS X utilities intended\u00a0to convert <strong>winmail.dat<\/strong> attachments to be readable on a Mac.
