  2. Erase<\/strong> the Mac’s internal drive,\u00a0support.apple.com\/en-ca\/HT204904<\/a>:\n

    1. Start up from the internal\u00a0Recovery partition, by\u00a0holding\u00a0down Command (\u2318)-R<\/strong> immediately after turning on or restarting your Mac. Release when you see the Apple logo.<\/li>\n
    2. Open Disk Utility from the utilities window, then\u00a0use Disk Utility to erase your built-in hard disk<\/a><\/li>\n
    3. You can select Security Options to overwrite the drive with zero’s.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note re: SSD Drives<\/strong>: The Security Options (over-writing with zeros) will NOT be presented if the drive is an SSD (Solid State Drive).\u00a0For SSDs, this is generally considered unnecessary, as well as\u00a0excessively wearing of the life-cycle of\u00a0an SSD drive. \u00a0If you desire, Apple’s FileVault drive encryption capability can be used to provide\u00a0an extra level of comfort that your data will remain\u00a0inaccessible, as explained by either of these two articles:<\/p>\n
