Microsoft Teams is Carleton’s administrative web and video conferencing tool. Microsoft Teams is available to all faculty, staff and students under its Microsoft License Agreement.

ITS supports MS Teams at Carleton and they have compiled a comprehensive site all about MS Teams (see: https://carleton.ca/its/teams/) which includes a form to request a Teams Site. You can contact ITS at: its.service.desk@carleton.ca

While it can be used as a teaching tool, Teams is better suited for small meetings and one-on-one interactions with students. Conversations of a sensitive nature with students should be conducted via Teams rather than using other web or video conferencing tools. BigBlueButton and Zoom are better tools for teaching classes synchronously.

You can find out more information about web conferencing, including best practices and the differences between the tools (BigBlueButton, Microsoft Teams and Zoom) on our Web Conferencing at Carleton page.
