Omar is a multidisciplinary business leader and educator specializing in strategy, innovation, and action-based learning.

With a multicultural background and strong believer in the power of diversity to overcome adversity, Omar is a global citizen that naturally connects with people from all walks of life from around the world. He uses multiple perspectives to take a holistic approach to meaningfully engage stakeholders to discover, explore, and create collaborative solutions to complex business and social challenges.

Omar has held leadership roles in the private, public, and social sectors, with a strong focus on tri-sector collaboration. He co-founded and led the School for Social Entrepreneurs – Ontario (in partnership with MaRS Discovery District) as Executive Director, working closely in collaboration with the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Office for Social Enterprise. The School for Social Entrepreneurs is an innovative educational and entrepreneurial community development and leadership program that provides holistic, real-world, and action-based learning and support for social entrepreneurs and social enterprises across the province.

Holding honours and distinction at three of Canada’s top universities, Omar has guest lectured on topics such as social innovation, business innovation, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, leadership, technology, and collaboration at postsecondary institutions including the Schulich School of Business, Western University, DeGroote School of Business, Ryerson University, Carleton University, and the University of Toronto.

Omar holds an MBA specializing in strategic management, organizational studies, change management, and social purpose business from the Schulich School of Business. He specialized in adult education, instructional design, and distance education while completing his Master’s in Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia. He holds both a B.Ed. and B.Sc. from the University of Ottawa, and is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).

Always passionate about providing new platforms and channels that enable the next generation of thinkers and doers to pursue their own passions for creating a more sustainable future, Omar sees both hope and potential in the ability of everyday people to have a positive influence in the world.
