Andrea (she\/her) has worked for over two decades in the nonprofit sector and is currently the Chief Development Officer at Wesley, a local nonprofit in Hamilton, Ontario, supporting fundraising, communications and social enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrea graduated from Trent University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Women\u2019s and Cultural Studies, focusing on the intersectionality of equity in the Canadian context. Through reading and participation in the Philanthropy & Equity Community of Practise, Andrea is learning about how the work of philanthropy and the nonprofit sector can perpetuate oppression and the opportunities for transformational change. She has several areas of academic interest including the decline of mainline churches and the impact on the charitable sector and what Truth & Reconciliation looks like for nonprofits started by churches that were involved in residential schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrea is a parent to three pre-teens\/teens, is married into a South Asian immigrant family, and is a member of The United Church of Canada. She acknowledges the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas, and recognizes that we must do more to learn and better understand our roles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
