She&#8217;s a founding member of the<br>\nNational Council of Indigenous Midwives and of the Global Council of Indigenous Midwives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her health systems research champions comprehensive, gender-inclusive sexual and reproductive health and care, which is<br>\nunderpinned by Indigenous theories, methodologies and methods. She&#8217;s committed to advancing the Calls to Action (TRC), Calls to Justice (MMIWG), and the Recommendations of RCAP by influencing policy, program and systems change at all levels of<br>\ngovernment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Lawford is the 2020 Indspire Laureate in Health, and became a member of the Royal Society of Canada in 2021. She&#8217;s an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Midwifery Education Program) at McMaster University.
