Members of the OSO Wind Quintet “Chamber Music: A Team Sport”
Who makes the artistic decisions for an ensemble when there is no conductor? Who organises concerts and performance opportunities? How can we put on successful concerts with limited rehearsal time? In this session, we’ll discuss the 4 Cs of chamber music – communication, commitment, creativity, and collegiality – and how, in our own experiences, we’ve found these qualities improve chamber collaborations for everyone.
All members of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the OSO’s Wind Quintet, Olivier Brisson, Lara Deutsch, and Ben Glossop enjoy active and diverse careers as freelancers. Between them, they perform regularly with the National Arts Centre (NAC) Orchestra, as well as with the symphony orchestras of Montreal, Kingston, and Toronto. In addition to their individual projects, they are also involved in the NAC’s outreach initiatives, which bring educational concerts to students in schools across the National Capital Region.
