Winter 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that the Musical Theatre Ensemble will run in the WINTER TERM<\/strong> only!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n<\/span>Class time: <\/strong><\/span>7 – 10pm on Monday evenings at The Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre. Some additional week-end
\nrehearsals will be required towards the end of term to polish the production. The performance will be on Thursday 26 March in the KM Theatre at Carleton University. On the 22<\/span>nd <\/span>of March 2020 Stephen Sondheim will turn 90. To honour the giant of American Musical Theatre I am excited to announce that the Carleton University Musical Theatre Ensemble (CUMTE) will be performing a revue of his works.
\nCUMTE is open to everyone \u2013 you do not need to be in Music to join us. Our first rehearsal will take place on Monday 6 January 2020. It will be both an information session and a chance for you to sing for us so that we can get to know you a bit and cast the show. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please bring:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n


\n\u2022 your updated resume (CV) if you have one \u2013 there will be a sheet for you to fill out as well.
\n\u2022 a Sondheim song \u2013 we might hear all of it or ask you for a one minute cut so please be prepared with both
\noptions. If you have any question about \u201ca one minute cut\u201d just email me and I will help you out with it.
\nLarry will accompany you, but you must provide sheet music in the key you are singing in. If you are unsure
\nabout the key, just bring the music and we will sort it out for you.
\n\u2022 although there will be choreography in the show, no dancing will be required at the audition
\n<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ensemble meets once a week from 7- 10pm on Monday evenings at The Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre.
\nDue to the short rehearsal time, additional weekend rehearsal will be required, and there is, of course, a tech week.
\nIf you are interested in the technical side of things (back-stage and stage management) there are possibilities for you
\nthere as well. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the email address below
\nFor those students receiving a credit for the course (satisfactory\/unsatisfactory), the assessment will be based on in class work, preparation, and participation in the dress rehearsal and final performance.
