Now he\u2019s looking to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Khayam, a 45-year-old internationally acclaimed composer, pianist and conductor, said a relative by marriage lived here. He says because of that connection, he, his wife and two sons came to live in an apartment in Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Khayam also moved to Canada because \u201cthe idea that Canada is this very large melting pot of ideas and cultures\u201d appealed to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t expecting much (professionally) to happen,\u201d says Khayam, who has taught at Carleton University and been its artist in residence.
