Instruments provided, and all welcome! Register for the event <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/music\/cu_event\/music-of-the-gourd-workshop-with-stacey-can-tamakloe\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stacey Dela Can-Tamakloe<\/strong>&nbsp; came to Canada as an international student from Ghana in 2021. &nbsp;She recently graduated with a master&#8217;s degree&nbsp;in Music and Culture from&nbsp;Carleton University in Ottawa. Stacey\u2019s undergraduate degree is from the University of Ghana in Legon where she focused on music and dance studies. While a student at Carleton, Stacey pursued her interest in gender roles in Ghanaian popular and traditional music and was a Graduate Research Assistant for the&nbsp;\u201cReimagining the Global Music Ensemble\u201d project&nbsp;by Kathy Armstrong at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/mssc\/\">Research Centre for Music, Sound and Society in Canada<\/a>&nbsp;. Stacey also assisted in coaching Carleton\u2019s West African Rhythm Ensemble, and is thrilled to be back as their guest artist this season, teaching new <em>Adenkum<\/em> repertoire to the group. Stacey also works as MASC teaching artist in the Ottawa community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stacey\u2019s guest artist residency is made possible through the <a href=\"https:\/\/futurefunder.carleton.ca\/giving-fund\/baobab-collaborative-arts-fund-at-carleton-university\/\">Baobab Collaborative Arts Fund<\/a> which provides support for projects that enhance and expand the experiential study of cultural disciplines from Africa and the African diaspora.&nbsp; The fund serves students in Carleton Music, and in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences more generally.
