Passwords are an important part of computer security.  MyCarletonOne enforces strong passwords through strict password rules.

General Password Tips:

You basically want to treat your password as you would your toothbrush.   Change it often.  Don’t share it.  If you have shared it, discard it and get a new one.  And don’t leave it lying around for anyone to ‘borrow’.

  • Do not share your password with anyone for any reason.
  • Use a different password for each account – your banking password should be different from your Facebook password.
  • Never respond to email requests for your password, even if the email appears to come from Carleton. Carleton University will never ask you for your password via email.
