Lauren Doig

Biography:
Hello current neuroscience students! My name is Lauren and I graduated from the neuroscience Honours program in the spring 2019. When I finished my third year, I didn’t have a clear path for what I wanted to do in the future, I just knew that I wanted to be in health care, and with the help of my mentors, I found Occupational Therapy (OT). This fall, I will be starting my 2nd year of the master’s program at the University of Alberta and I loved everything I learned in my first year.
Occupational therapists focus on helping individuals (re)learn activities they are currently unable to perform, which includes everything from daily activities of living such as dressing and eating, to learning to walk with a prosthetic or use a wheelchair. I love that OTs can work with individuals in many different situations, including acute and chronic health care, mental health work, social work and in schools with kids with developmental disabilities. These two sentences can’t even begin to encompass all that OTs do, so if you would like to find out more please send me an email and we can chat some more. Look forward to hearing from some of you!
