Her research focuses on the nervous system of Pacific salmon. She completed two post-doctoral fellowships. The first, at McGill University, focused on human circadian rhythms and their disruption by shift-work and Alzheimer\u2019s disease. The second, at Carleton University, in the laboratory of Dr. Alfonso Abizaid, where she studied circadian rhythms and obesity. She completed her PhD in 2005 at the Center for Studies in Behavioral Neurobiology at Concordia University. Her doctoral thesis was awarded the Governor General\u2019s Gold Medal.
