In the summer after my first year, I worked with Dr. Kim Matheson to look at the contribution of pet ownership to mental wellbeing. In the summer of my second year, I worked with Dr. Alfonso Abizaid to explore how ghrelin, an orexigenic hormone, modulates motivated behaviour to feed. Research is something I’ll definitely continue to be a part of as I move forward with my education. Outside of school and research, I was a mentor at the Science Student Success Centre, involved in running the first year neuroscience peer-led study sessions and also got involved in other opportunities that centered mostly around teaching and mentorship (which are things that I am extremely extremely passionate about!!). In my spare time, I absolutely enjoy reading, baking and spending time outdoors.

Advice for Current Students

Challenge yourself to push boundaries and step outside of your comfort zone.
