All of the staff and faculty are extremely supportive and helpful in achieving your goals. During my four years at Carleton I had two concussions, which put some hiccups in applying to the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College. However, after many meetings with Matt Holahan and my course professors, I was able to get all the courses needed to apply to Guelph. Without all of their support I probably would not have been able to apply.

Carleton has also given me many opportunities that aren’t as available at other universities. I have gotten the opportunity to TA with many great professors and got experience in the labs in my first year through the Dean’s Summer Research Internship program. My DSRI also lead to my first job in the veterinary field, working with the vivarium. These opportunities have provided me with a ton of experience that has helped me achieve my goals. I completed the 4908 research thesis (not actually necessary for vet school but I was able to put it as extra animal experience on my application).

Advice for Current Students

My best piece of advice is that Carleton has a ton of opportunities to get experience, you just need to look for them.

[105

post-546","cu_people","type-cu_people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cu_people_type-diversity-directory
["GET
