The 50-year journalism veteran brought a 360-degree rig with 16 GoPro cameras to capture views inside the trenches. To tell the story for today&#8217;s youth, he reasoned, you need to use their technology. So that\u2019s why, on the eve of his retirement, Mansbridge ventured into something new. The results will be distributed to most schools across Canada next month in partnership with YouTube and Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re in an era now where no matter what platform you work with, you better have digital (skills),&#8221; Mansbridge said in an interview after delivering the <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/2017\/03\/14\/peter-mansbridge-deliver-18th-annual-kesterton-lecture-future-journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\">18<sup>th<\/sup> annual Kesterton Lecture<\/a> at Carleton University on March 21. &#8220;But you have to start with the basics of journalism. How to write. How to tell stories. How to do interviews. All of that. So it&#8217;s one thing to tell them the story they didn&#8217;t know. Really, I don\u2019t. But when I tell you something important, do you believe me? That&#8217;s the only thing that I want. That&#8217;s the only thing we, as journalists, should want: To be trusted.
