rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences<\/a> will be hosting the next panel as part of their <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/healthy-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Healthy Cities<\/a> series on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The series explores the many factors\u2014from nature and housing to climate and art\u2014that make a healthy city in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This upcoming edition titled,&nbsp;<em>Building Community Through Creativity,<\/em>&nbsp;brings together artists, activists, cultural workers and academics to share experiences and insights into how cities can centre the work of artists in serving people and strengthening communities.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m really looking forward to fostering discussion between and learning from these wonderful panellists, who have so much wisdom and experience to share,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/circle\/people\/sandra-dyck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sandra Dyck,<\/a> director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cuag.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carleton University Art Gallery<\/a> who will be moderating the event.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/2019\/meet-our-new-artist-in-residence-jamaal-jackson-rogers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jamaal Jackson Rogers<\/a> &#8211; Ottawa\u2019s former English Poet Laureate and Carleton University\u2019s Music Program 2019-2020 Artist in Residence. He uses his performance studio, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/theorigin57\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Origin Arts &amp; Community Centre<\/a>, as his launch pad to teach, mentor and advocate for the arts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityengagement\/people\/mara-brown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mara Brown<\/a> &#8211; the inaugural director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cdcc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre<\/a> (CDCC). Her national and international work has led her throughout rural and urban centres supporting independent artists, non-profit organizations and corporations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/melanieyugo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Melanie Yugo<\/a> \u2013 who has a multidisciplinary practice that focuses on activating community and cultural life in the public sphere. She co-founded <a href=\"https:\/\/possibleworldsshop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Possible Worlds<\/a>, an art, print and music platform in Ottawa, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinsandneedles.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spins &amp; Needles<\/a>, a collective that engages communities through curated art and music experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/music\/people\/ellen-waterman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ellen Waterman<\/a> \u2013 a music scholar with a strong focus on music in Canada and a flutist specializing in creative improvisation. She was appointed to the inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/music\/helmut-kallmann-chair-for-music-in-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helmut Kallmann Chair for Music in Canada<\/a> at Carleton University in 2019 where she is developing a research program committed to investigating issues of diversity and decolonization of music in Canada through scholarship, research creation, and experiential learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Danielle Printup is a Hodinohso:ni \/ Anishnaabe arts administrator and curator from <a href=\"http:\/\/kzadmin.com\/Home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg, QC<\/a>, with maternal roots in Ohsweken, ON. She has worked at Galerie SAW Gallery, the Indigenous Art Centre and the City of Ottawa\u2019s Public Art Program.
