Ibhawoh\u2019s session will cover Carleton\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\/wp-content\/uploads\/Carleton-University-Strategic-Integrated-Plan-2020-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Strategic Integrated Plan (SIP)<\/a> and its focus on reconciliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explains truth and reconciliation models provide an opportunity for both society and governments to come to terms with the difficult history from a perspective of restoring relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton\u2019s vision is to develop relationships based on mutual respect, accountability and reciprocity with Indigenous communities, while taking steps toward decolonization.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cTruth commissions are part of the restorative justice for repair to try to come to terms with the legacies of the past so we can all collectively move on,\u201d says Ibhawoh.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Truth commissions have been established since the 1980.
