\n Carleton Moves on Talks to Buy Dominion-Chalmers United Church\n <\/h1>\n \n <\/header>\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/path>\n <\/path>\n <\/svg>\n <\/div>\n\n \n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

It\u2019s the home of one of Ottawa\u2019s best concert halls, drawing nearly 1,000 people to performances during Chamberfest, the Jazz Festival and other big cultural events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a beautiful century-old Romanesque Revival building with parkland and parking that occupies more than half a city block at a prime downtown location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it could soon give Carleton University a new connection to the heart of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At its Dec. 5 meeting, Carleton\u2019s Board of Governors approved a motion to formally negotiate the potential purchase of the historic Dominion-Chalmers United Church<\/a> \u2014 east of O\u2019Connor Street between Lisgar and Cooper \u2014 for use as a multi-purpose performance space for students and faculty, and a hub for artists and community groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
