Ravens pride was evident everywhere during Carleton University\u2019s Throwback weekend from Oct. 16 to 19, with 34 events attracting thousands of faculty, staff, students, alumni and donors to campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a chemistry magic show, a panel on mystery novels and networking events to a Ravens Hall of Fame gala, exciting sports action and reunion dinners, the community packed Carleton venues over four days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of Throwback 2014, Carleton put on a 45-minute Chemistry Magic Show<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Carleton athletes shone in competition, winning a number of games in football, basketball, water polo and hockey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur campus was filled with an incredible energy as alumni flooded back on campus to reconnect with Carleton and one another,\u2019\u2019 said Mark Savenkoff, director of Alumni and Donor Relations.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt was inspiring to speak with graduates about their student experience while they were here, and I am already looking forward to next year\u2019s third annual event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend began with a convincing 9-4 win for the Ravens men\u2019s ice hockey team, which defeated the Ridgebacks from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, the Ravens men\u2019s football team was victorious at Keith Harris Stadium, beating the University of Windsor Lancers 21-18.<\/p>\n\n\n

The women\u2019s hockey team defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees in their season opener with a final score of 4-2 and the Ravens men\u2019s water polo team took part in the University of Toronto Invitational where they won three of their four games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend ended with the men\u2019s basketball team winning the 25th annual House-Laughton tournament with a 101-69 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TSN sportscaster James Duthie, a graduate of Carleton\u2019s journalism program, was on hand for a number of the sporting events over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He dropped the puck for men`s hockey and participated in the tip off at the men`s basketball tournament. He also performed the coin toss at the football game and the puck drop at the women`s hockey home opener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duthie is currently the host of The NHL on TSN. In the past, he has hosted CFL Live, NBA on TSN and SportsCentre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four new people were inducted into the Ravens Hall of Fame at a gala on Oct. 16 \u2013 former men\u2019s basketball star Osvaldo Jeanty, water polo competitor Waneek Horn-Miller, fencing\u2019s Marc Lavoie, and Paul Correy, former men\u2019s hockey coach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
