Stephen Saideman<\/strong>

Saideman was recently quoted in an article<\/a> discussing the possibility of a civil war in the United States. His research interests focus on the causes and consequences of intervention in intra-state conflicts. His current research deals with the role of legislatures in democratic civil-military relations. He teaches courses on contemporary international security, civil-military relations, and United States foreign and defence policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brian Schmidt<\/strong>
Professor, Department of Political Science at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schmidt is an American citizen whose research interests are international relations theory, American foreign policy, American domestic politics, U.S.-Canada relations and disciplinary history. His book The Political Discourse of Anarchy, which received the Choice 1998 Outstanding Academic Book Award, examines the history of International Relations from the mid-1800s to the outbreak of World War Two. He continues to pursue research on the history of the field and has published numerous articles on the historiography of International Relations. At Carleton, Schmidt teaches courses on international relations theory, the causes of war, the United Nations, and American foreign policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
