The U.S.\u2013Canada tariff deadline is August 19, 2026. By this date, U.S. President Donald Trump is threatening to implement new 50 per cent tariffs on over 500 categories of Canadian goods, without the usual CUSMA exemptions. Carment is a series editor for Palgrave\u2019s Canada and International Affairs, editor of Canadian Foreign Policy Journal<\/em> and fellow of the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. His research focuses on Canadian foreign policy, mediation and negotiation, fragile states and diaspora politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the author, editor or co-editor of 21 books and has authored or co-authored over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. His most recent books focus on diaspora cooperation, corruption in Canada, branding Canadian foreign policy and state fragility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ian Lee

Lee has co-authored a new book called Canada in a Trumpian world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee has appeared multiple times before the House of Commons and Senate finance, banking, industry and trade committees. He has been in every Government of Canada budget lockup since 2008. He attended pre-budget consultations with the Minister of Finance in 2009 and 2011. His work has appeared in the annual publication, How Ottawa Spends, concerning Canada\u2019s retirement system, the Parliamentary Budget Officer, deficits, corporate income reform, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dane Rowlands<\/strong>

Rowlands\u2019 primary research interests are in international debt, multilateral financial institutions, official development assistance and the international aspects of economic development. Van Rythoven\u2019s research examines the intersection between emotion, international relations, and the politics of security. He is interested in what political emotions are, how they shape debates about security, and how they become sites of contestation in global politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He teaches a range of courses including Introduction to International Relations, Canadian Foreign Policy, the Globalization of Human Rights, Advanced International Relations Theory, Emotion and Images in International Politics, and Frontiers of Emotional Diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
