A leading figure in the field&#8217;s \u201cglobal turn,\u201d Tiampo advances decolonial and transnational approaches that reframe modernism through the interconnected histories of migration, race and empire. Through her international exhibitions, publications and public projects, she has helped redefine understandings of global modernisms and influenced how scholars and cultural institutions around the world examine the relationship between art and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"college-of-new-scholars-artists-and-scientists\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists recognizes researchers within 15 years of receiving their PhD who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishment. A <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/news\/2025\/2025-dorothy-killam-fellowships\/\">2025 Dorothy Killam Fellow<\/a>, Bruin leads a unique translational toxicology research program that brings together experimental research, epidemiology and biomonitoring to address rising rates of diabetes worldwide. Her award-winning publications and digital projects, including the Transgender Media Portal and the digital film collection <em>Cinema&#8217;s First Nasty Women<\/em>, connect overlooked histories of gender and sexuality with contemporary feminist, queer and trans movements. Working in partnership with First Nations organizations, Bombay&#8217;s research has examined the cumulative and intergenerational impacts of residential schools and child welfare systems on mental health.
