Tracey Lauriault
<\/strong>Professor, School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lauriault is available to discuss Indigenous data and technology sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lauriault is a critical data studies scholar who works on open data, big data, open smart cities, open government, data sovereignty, data preservation and data governance. Her ongoing research includes disaggregated equity data, digital twins, intersectional approaches to data governance, data invisibilities and the history of the census. As a publicly engaged scholar, she mobilizes her research into data and technology policy in all sectors. As a data and technological citizen, she examines large and small complex systems with the hope of making them more just, inclusive, equitable and environmentally sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan McCue<\/strong>
Professor, School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McCue is Anishinaabe, a member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation in southern Ontario. He is available to discuss residential schools and truth\/reconciliation efforts.

McCue, an award-winning CBC broadcaster and leading advocate for fostering the connection between journalism and Indigenous communities. His work now focuses on Indigenous Journalism and (Story)telling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, McCue is working with Carleton colleagues to launch a new journalism skills certificate on the ground in Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McCue was the host of Helluva Story<\/em> on CBC Radio and was also the driving force behind Kuper Island<\/em>, a remarkable eight-part podcast series on residential schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, he developed a unique online resource, Reporting in Indigenous Communities, which inspired his latest work, a new textbook called Decolonizing Journalism: A Guide to Reporting in Indigenous Communities. McCue is also the author of The Shoe Boy: A Trapline Memoir, which recounts a season he spent in a hunting camp with a Cree family in northern Quebec as a teenager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Shepherd<\/strong>
Professor, School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shepherd is available to discuss public management and governmental reform, Indigenous public management, ethics, and policy and program evaluation, including Bill C-39. He is interested in how public accountability and oversight systems intersect to improve overall public management and governance systems. In addition, his research extends to understanding how governmental program evaluation functions can improve public policy and decision-making. Improving ethics in government also contributes to governmental legitimacy and democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omeasoo Wahpasiw<\/strong>
Professor, Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wahpasiw (she\/her) is a nehiyaw iskwew living in Anishinabe territory. She is available to discuss what reconciliation looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her PhD dissertation is titled Tla\u2019amin Housing, Architecture and Home Territories in the 20th Century: Invisible Spaces Shaping Historical Indigenous Education<\/em>. It explores the ways in which Indigenous people have maintained their cultural and spatial heritage even while forced to inhabit architecture that follows colonial paradigms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wahpasiw co-wrote the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations Women\u2019s Commission submission to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
