Registration is <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fpa\/cu_event\/author-meets-readers-the-haitian-revolution-in-the-literary-imagination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available online.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaisary\u2019s book&nbsp;reveals that the Haitian Revolution, the world\u2019s only&nbsp;successful slave revolution, has long since generated&nbsp;\u201cradical\u201d and&nbsp;\u201cconservative\u201d responses. The cultural and political debates inspired by the&nbsp;Haitian Revolution have much to teach us about our moral vision and political hopes today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will feature a short panel Q&amp;A session with Kaisary, Carleton Prof. Ummni Khan and Jean Wolff, Haitian-born reader and communications specialist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is part of the Ottawa International Writer\u2019s Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"about-philip-kaisary\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Philip Kaisary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaisary\u2019s research elaborates on the forms and values of literary, legal and filmic texts generated by the histories of African-descended peoples throughout the Atlantic world.
