As International Women\u2019s Day takes place March 8, Carleton experts are available to comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca Bromwich<\/strong>

Bromwich is the program director for the Graduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution. She is a per diem Crown attorney with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Ottawa. Bromwich has been a columnist for the Lawyers Weekly<\/em> and has authored and co-authored several books for students and legal system practitioners, including lawyers, paralegals and police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bromwich is available to speak on topics related to International Women\u2019s Day and the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sriskandarajah teaches courses on globalization and family, childhood and girlhood studies, feminist methodologies, and gender and work. Her research interests include transnationalism, gender, difference, youth belonging, racialization and space. She authored the paper \u201cBounding Motherhood: The Case of Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees in Canada\u201d in Women\u2019s Studies: An inter-disciplinary journal, <\/em>which examined how media and state discourses centered on refugee children reinforce cultural notions of women as \u201cnatural caregivers\u201d and \u201cnatural mother.\u201d  The discourses are constructed in the backdrop of a highly racialized and gendered understanding of Canadian national identity and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bujaki\u2019s research focuses on voluntary disclosure in corporate annual reports, and historical accounting, governance and accountability practices on the Rideau Canal. Other research projects address corporate governance; accounting policy choice; gender issues in management; mentoring; and women in accounting. She has taught in undergraduate, MBA, EMBA and professional programs and teaches in Sprott\u2019s Management Certificate for Women (MCW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beckton has extensive experience in a broad range of areas, including leading large organizations, strategic planning, governance, leadership to change systems, risk management, gender, diversity, inclusion, Indigenous policy issues and advancement of women\u2019s leadership. She is the author of Own It, Your Success, Your Life, Your Future<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She served as the deputy head of Status of Women Canada, managing the departmental agency and providing advice to ministers. She led the development of public policy for the advancement of women and assisted a number of non-profits to seek funding to benefit women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

White is a literary historian and has expertise on women who wrote \u201cproto-feminist\u201d poems and treatises in 16th<\/sup> and 17th<\/sup> century England. Her main field of study is English Renaissance literature and she is particularly interested in women\u2019s writing and Reformation history. She has researched powerful queens such as Katherine Parr and Queen Elizabeth, as well as everyday women of the times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
