As Canada\u2019s highest civilian honour, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Humane and compassionate, Morley has dedicated his life to ensuring that children born in a fragile context get equal opportunities to survive and thrive.&nbsp;His leadership at UNICEF Canada inspires and empowers staff to confront the complex challenges facing disadvantaged children. In the workplace, Marley brings the perspective of meeting children in some of the world\u2019s toughest and most dangerous places. Most recently, he travelled to South Sudan to advocate for family reunification in the civil war, and to Bangladesh to visit Rohingya camps and ensure that children are receiving care and education under dire circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recognized leader of the not-for-profit sector in Canada, he is a passionate voice for the world\u2019s most vulnerable citizens. In Canada and around the world,&nbsp;Morley has been president and CEO at UNICEF Canada since 2011, and previously served as executive director of M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res\/Doctors without Borders Canada, and as president and CEO of Save the Children Canada. In addition, he is the sitting chair of the Standing Group of National Committees for UNICEF, a recognition of his global leadership.&nbsp;He is inspiring the next generation of Canadian humanitarians through his teaching at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a time when the world is looking to Canada for global leadership and when Canadians are looking for leaders who have global presence, Morley\u2019s work with UNICEF Canada takes on the complex challenges of children\u2019s rights in a sustainable and comprehensive way.&nbsp;He lives these values each and every day through his leadership, his service and, most importantly, with his own family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carleton University Alumnus David Morley, who graduated with a BA in 1977, was appointed to the Order of Canada on June 29, 2018, for his leadership in international development and for his humanitarian commitment to improving the lives of children and families around the world.
