The action-packed week will help students get to know campus as they take part in exciting activities and meet classmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New students can participate in one of three official programs. The <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fallorientation\/programs\/#CRS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centralized Fall Orientation<\/a> is open to all students and is the largest undergraduate orientation program. Faculty-specific orientation programs are also offered to <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fallorientation\/programs\/#Sprosh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">business<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fallorientation\/programs\/#Eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">engineering<\/a> students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the following Orientation Week events:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Residence Move-In Weekend<br>\n<\/strong>Volunteers will be assisting first-year students as they carry belongings to their new residence rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When:<\/strong>&nbsp;Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where:&nbsp;<\/strong>Residence Quad, Carleton University<br>\n<strong>Note: <\/strong>Carleton President Benoit-Antoine Bacon will welcome students arriving to Carleton on Saturday, Sept. 1 beginning at 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opening Ceremonies<br>\n<\/strong>Orientation Week officially kicks-off with the opening ceremonies \u2013 a welcome to all new students to Carleton.<strong><br>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When:<\/strong> Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.<strong><br>\nWhere:<\/strong> Ravens&#8217; Nest, Carleton University<strong><br>\n<\/strong><strong>Note<\/strong>: Bacon will provide welcoming remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shinerama<br>\n<\/strong>One of Canada\u2019s largest post-secondary fundraisers, <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/fallorientation\/shinerama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shinerama<\/a>&nbsp;involves nearly 60 universities and colleges from across Canada to raise money for cystic fibrosis research and care. This year, Carleton\u2019s fundraising goal is $50,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will visit various locations throughout Ottawa as they give back to the Ottawa community and contribute to a great cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When:&nbsp;<\/strong>Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the busiest time is approximately 1 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where:<\/strong>&nbsp;Various locations across Ottawa, including the intersection of Bank Street and Fifth Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Concert:&nbsp;Scott Helman and Kardinal Offishall<br>\n<\/strong>Artists Scott Helman and Kardinal Offishall will headline the annual Fall Orientation concert.<br>\n<strong><br>\nWhen:<\/strong>&nbsp;Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where:&nbsp;<\/strong>Parking Lot 12, Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Scott Helman:<br>\n<\/strong>While Scott Helman may seem like a new Canadian artist, he has been making music since he was 15. At 21, he is already a platinum certified artist with this single \u201cBungalow.\u201d He has also earned two Juno nominations, toured with Walk Off The Earth and has performed at the 2015 MMVAs and 2016 Juno awards. His debut 2017 album, H\u00f4tel de Ville, has his most popular song \u201cPDA,\u201d which has over 2 million Youtube views. Combined with his other songs, he has over 3.5 million views on Youtube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Kardinal Offishal:<\/strong><br>\nOne of Canada\u2019s most famous hip hop artists, Kardinal Offishall has had a career that spans over a decade. He has released five albums, and has been nominated for 10 Juno awards.
