Attendees can submit questions in advance by tweeting to @MindingtheBrain or through the registration form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/science.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faculty of Science<\/a> will host a live podcast episode of <a href=\"http:\/\/mindingthebrainpodcast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Minding the Brain<\/em><\/a> \u2013 a popular series hosted by professors Kim Hellemans of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/neuroscience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Neuroscience<\/a> and Jim Davies of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Cognitive Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Minding the Brain<\/em> features discussions about a different mind-related issue every month. Previous topics have included concussions, drugs and how we imagine our futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this special live recording episode of the podcast titled \u201c20 Questions with Kim and Jim,\u201d Hellemans and Davies will answer listener questions \u2013 before opening the floor to questions from the audience.<br>\n<strong><br>\nCarleton Feasts <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Alumni Reading Room, MacOdrum Library, Carleton<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: Tickets are $10 and <a href=\"https:\/\/events.carleton.ca\/carleton-feasts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registration is required<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MacOdrum Library will host <em>Carleton Feasts<\/em> \u2013 a step into the literary world to explore the importance of feasts in both fiction and today&#8217;s society. The event menu is inspired by the most memorable meals in literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ravens Hall of Fame<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Ravens\u2019 Nest, Athletics Centre, Carleton<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: Tickets are $75.&nbsp; Registration <a href=\"https:\/\/payments.carleton.ca\/advancement\/ravens-hall-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ravens Athletics will honour five new inductees in the Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Athletes to be honoured include: Earl Cochrane, men\u2019s soccer; Marianne White (n\u00e9e Illing), women\u2019s water polo; Terry McCarthy, men\u2019s hockey; and Harry Van Hofwegen, football. Robert Laughton, of men\u2019s basketball, will be honoured in the Hall of Fame \u201cbuilder\u201d category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2018 Attallah Lecture: Media Forensics: Reading the Canadian Cultural Commodity <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.<strong><br>\nWhere<\/strong>: Room 2220, Richcraft Hall, Carleton<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: Registration for this event <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/cu_event\/10th-annual-attallah-lecture-featuring-will-straw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is available online.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Communication and Media Studies Program, School of Journalism and Communication, will host the 2018 Attallah Lecture: <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/cu_event\/10th-annual-attallah-lecture-featuring-will-straw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Media Forensics: Reading the Canadian Cultural Commodity<\/em><\/a> presented by Professor Will Straw, James McGill Professor of Urban Media Studies, McGill University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Straw will examine the practices of disguise and deception, through which the Canadian character of certain cultural commodities has been obscured to enhance their legitimacy and commercial appeal.&nbsp; Straw will propose ways it may be possible to \u201cread\u201d a range of cultural commodities, in hieroglyphic fashion,&nbsp;as evidence of the conditions of their production and the strategies behind their circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ravens Rally <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Parking Lot 5, Athletics Centre, Carleton<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>:&nbsp; All are invited to attend the rally and admission is free. The event will feature exciting performances, an obstacle course, food trucks, a local beer garden, and more.
