Her work looks at the factors that promote successful goal pursuit and attainment, as well as self-regulatory mechanisms. Her other research interests include autonomy support, health behaviours, attachment and well-being across a person\u2019s lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Milyavskaya is available to discuss setting goals and New Year\u2019s resolutions, as well as healthy eating during the holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jim Davies<\/strong><br>\nProfessor, Institute of Cognitive Science and School of Computer Science<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Phone<\/strong>: 613-520-2600, ext. 1109<br>\n<strong>Email<\/strong>:&nbsp; <a href=\"mailto:jim.davies@carleton.ca\">jim.davies@carleton.ca<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Director of the Science of Imagination Laboratory, Davies explores computational modelling and artificial intelligence applied to human visual imagination. His work has shown how people use visual thinking to solve problems and how they visualize imagined situations and worlds. He is a frequent contributor to <em>Nautilus<\/em> magazine and is author of <em>Riveted: The Science of How Jokes Make Us Laugh, Movies Make Us Cry, and Religion Makes Us Feel One with the Universe<\/em>. He is a co-host of the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/mindingthebrainpodcast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minding the Brain<\/a><\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Davies can discuss the psychology of Santa Claus for the children who believe, and eventually disbelieve, in him.
