\n Confirming Excellence in Business Education: Global Accreditation Extended for Carleton\u2019s Sprott School of Business\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

AACSB International (AASCB) has extended its accreditation of Carleton University\u2019s Sprott School of Business for another five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools and the largest business education network connecting students, educators and businesses worldwide. AACSB accreditation has been earned by only five per cent of the world\u2019s business schools offering degrees at the bachelor level and higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis significant achievement would not have been possible without the long-term dedication of our outstanding faculty and staff,\u2019\u2019 said Carleton President Benoit-Antoine Bacon. \u201cThis accreditation recognizes and confirms Sprott\u2019s continued success in business education that\u2019s great news as we watch the new home for Sprott \u2013 the Nicol Building – take shape.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning. The intense peer review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education,\u201d said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice-president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their recommendation for the extension of accreditation for Carleton\u2019s business programs, the AACSB peer review team recognized the Sprott School for its student-oriented culture, which was confirmed in meetings with undergraduate and graduate students. They also noted many of the school\u2019s student experience opportunities, such as the Bucket to Rain Barrels projects in Tanzania, the Sprott Competes case competition program, the Sprott Student Investment Fund, and the many required courses that include experiential learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis achievement reflects the exceptional quality of our school and our dedication to continuous improvement,\u201d said Linda Schweitzer, interim dean of the Sprott School of Business. \u201cI am particularly proud that we were recognized for the engagement and strong bonds between faculty, staff, students and alumni and our view that business and education have an important social responsibility to build and support human welfare and well-being.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sprott School of Business was initially awarded AACSB accreditation in 2013 following a multi-year process of rigorous internal and peer reviewed evaluation to ensure alignment to AACSB standards. These standards require excellence in all areas relating to strategic management and innovation; students, faculty and staff as active participants in the school; learning and teaching; as well as academic and professional engagement. Once accreditation is achieved, each institution participates in a five-year continuous improvement peer review to maintain high quality and extend its accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
