Prof. Matthew Bellamy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of History<\/a> and Carleton University Past-President Richard Van Loon will deliver engaging lectures hosted by OSFAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the events.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Please, Don\u2019t Drink and Drive: Labatt\u2019s Campaign to Hold Drinking Drivers Accountable in the Age of Neoliberalism<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 7 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Auditorium (lower level), Ottawa Public Library Main Branch, 120 Metcalfe St., Ottawa<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bellamy is the foremost authority on the history of brewing in Canada and has published widely on the subject. In 2015, <em>Maclean<\/em>\u2019s magazine called Bellamy\u2019s class <em>the Canadian Brewing Industry<\/em> one of Canada\u2019s \u201ccool courses\u201d. In 2009, he was a finalist in <em>TVO<\/em>\u2019s Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Hard Travel: 6000 years up the Ottawa River and in to the West<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 7 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Auditorium (lower level), Ottawa Public Library Main Branch, 120 Metcalfe St., Ottawa<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more than 6000 years, the St. Lawrence and Ottawa valleys were the main highways leading to the interior of North America. Van Loon\u2019s talk will focus on the travellers and traders who used the Ottawa River from the end of the last ice age to the \u201cmodern\u201d era, which started in the mid-19th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"about-the-ottawa-society-for-the-arts-and-sciences\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Ottawa Society for the Arts and Sciences<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The OSFAS&nbsp;provides a forum for those who work in the arts and sciences, or related areas, to interact with one another, exchange ideas and explore the potential of co-operative enterprises.
