Students program and test their machines using skills in engineering, coding, and design. Teams also develop business and marketing plans, as well as outreach initiatives to fundraise and engage their local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a leader in engineering and design and a strong supporter of youth education in STEM, Carleton University is extremely proud to partner with <em>FIRST<\/em> Robotics Canada,\u201d says Fred Afagh, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design. \u201cOur Faculty\u2019s dedication to real-world learning and immersive hands-on experience is widely reflected in how <em>FIRST<\/em> competitions help to develop the next generation of STEM leaders in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton\u2019s newly added competition will raise the number of <em>FIRST<\/em> Robotics district events in Ontario to eleven in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After competing at district events, teams with the highest rankings and awards will move onto the Ontario Provincial Championships at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga in April 2020.
