\n National Day of Remembrance and Action on Mass Atrocities Youth Conference to take place at Carleton\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Carleton University will host the seventh annual National Day of Remembrance and Action on Mass Atrocities Youth Conference<\/a>, organized by students and teachers from the Ottawa District School Board. The conference is supported by Carleton\u2019s Faculty of Public Affairs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing together 750 students and teachers, the conference will feature workshops on important topics, including Indigenous truths; Indigenous activism and cultural resilience; and building \u200btrust between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When: <\/strong>April 23 and 24, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: Various room locations, Richcraft Hall, Carleton University
\nInfo<\/strong>: The event program and room information is available online.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media are invited to attend the event.
\n<\/strong>
\nThe conference will provide an opportunity to acknowledge Canada\u2019s challenging history of cultural genocide and move beyond into new understandings. Students will hear from various Indigenous guests and non-Indigenous allies who will explain their work and perspectives on reconciliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conference presenters include keynote speaker Rosanna Deerchild, host of CBC Radio One\u2019s \u200bUnreserved <\/em>and First Words<\/em>, artist and writer Jay Odjick, Crystal Semaganis of CBC\u2019s \u200bFinding Cleo<\/em>, entrepreneur Justin Holness and musical duo Twin Flames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
