Tickets are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.ca\/e\/theatre-of-the-oppressed-the-stereotypical-notions-of-gender-race-and-se-tickets-60104530268?ref=estw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available online.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton undergraduate and Glebe high school students will present two plays that highlight the discrimination and social oppression young people face in the Canadian social climate. <em>The<\/em> <em>Misguided Counsel <\/em>explores the subtle and overt racial discrimination that racialized Canadian youth encounter within high schools; <em>the Rumour Mill<\/em> looks at young people\u2019s struggle to express their sexuality in a heteronormative society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event follows the \u201cTheatre of the Oppressed\u201d model \u2013 a dramatic game in which a problem of social inequality, or symptom of oppression, is shown in an unsolved form. The interactive performance allows the audience to get involved to stop the oppression.
