Hosts will highlight the underlying scientific principles behind these reactions and explain applications to everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Saturday, May 11, 2019, hands-on activities start at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8:45 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Alumni Park (next to Robertson Hall), Carleton University<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: A campus map is <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/campus\/map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available online<\/a>; free parking is available in lot P9. In case of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Friday, May 17. Carleton\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CarletonScience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faculty of Science<\/a> will confirm the rescheduled date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to the show, hands-on activities will provide guests with the opportunity to make ice cream with liquid nitrogen, experience interesting smells, learn about fluorescence and phosphorescence, discover the secret to making great bubbles, see some demonstrations up close and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton\u2019s Chemistry Magic Show will be part of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencerendezvous.ca\/event_sites\/carleton-university\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science Rendezvous<\/a>, a national day of celebration of science in Canada, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciod.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science Odyssey<\/a>, a 10-day Canada-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admission to this event is free.
