From Sept. 15 to 22, 2019, Carleton University will welcome 10,000 alumni and members of the community to campus for Throwback, its annual Homecoming celebration<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Throwback, people come together to share memories, highlight Carleton\u2019s achievements and celebrate its enduring commitment to community engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exciting week<\/a> features art exhibitions, fascinating guest lectures, a community rally and a football game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton University Art Gallery to Celebrate Opening of Fall Exhibitions <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: CUAG, St. Patrick\u2019s Building, Carleton
\nAccess<\/strong>: This event is free and open to the public. ASL interpretation will be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton University Art Gallery<\/a> (CUAG) will host a party to celebrate the opening of its four new fall exhibitions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CUAG\u2019s new exhibitions are: Rah: SuperNova<\/em>; Olivia Johnston: Saints and Madonnas;<\/em> Sites of Memory: Legacies of the Japanese Canadian Internment<\/em>; and Inheriting Redress: The Japanese Community Association Archive<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton Adapts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>:  Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at 6 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: Alumni Reading Room, MacOdrum Library, Carleton<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Carleton Adapts<\/em>, panelists will defend their favourite book-to-movie adaptation. After hearing the three to five-minute defences, audience members will vote on the winner and the chosen film will be screened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Divine Nature of Leonardo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n<\/strong>Carleton University Art History<\/a> Prof. Randi Klebanoff will present the lecture The Divine Nature of Leonardo<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>While modern audiences embrace Leonardo da Vinci as a secular scientist and artistic genius, Klebanoff will examine da Vinci\u2019s work through concepts of God and the cosmos that informed his 15th<\/sup> century world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton to Host Re-creation of Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s Masterpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Thursday, Sept. 19, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

\nCarleton University will host a re-creation of Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s portrait of Lucrezia Crivelli<\/a>, by artist Francois Pelletier on the floor of the University Centre Galleria. Following the Italian tradition of the Madonnari, Pelletier will use temporary mediums such as chalks and pastels to reproduce this famous masterpiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019 Attallah Lecture: War on Mobile Phones: Technology and Truth in the Age of Digital Witnessing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe School of Journalism and Communication<\/a> will host the 2019 Attallah Lecture, War on Mobile Phones: Technology and Truth in the Age of Digital Witnessing,<\/em> presented by Lilie Chouliaraki, chair of the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this lecture, Chouliaraki will discuss how user-generated content, especially from mobile phone footage in conflict zones, challenges journalists\u2019 monopoly on the storytelling of war while facing questions about veracity, motives and sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019 FPA Currents Lecture: Election Edition with<\/strong> David Coletto<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton University will welcome alumnus David Coletto, chief executive officer and a founding partner of Abacus Data, as host of an expert panel to discuss pressing issues of the 2019 federal election<\/a> as part of the Currents lecture organized by the Faculty of Public Affairs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This lecture will explore the most important trends of the 2019 federal election. Coletto will share his perspective as a long-time political watcher and professional pollster. He and a panel of experts will discuss major election issues, political leaders, predictions and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ravens Rally<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: Parking Lot Five (P5), Athletics Centre, Carleton
\nInfo<\/strong>: All are invited to attend the rally and admission is free. Donations in support of Carleton\u2019s Fund for Good<\/a> <\/strong>are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join the Carleton community prior to the Homecoming football game to enjoy a free performance by Little Bones. Little Bones is Ottawa\u2019s own Tragically Hip tribute band and has performed in major venues and festivals since 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overflow Brewery, a local brewery and event venue, will be serving up their local craft beers in a licensed area. Overflow welcomed Little Bones in their venue last fall to a sold-out crowd and is excited to bring them back again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food trucks will be onsite with some local delicacies and a few other surprises are in store. There is sure to be something for everyone at the Ravens rally \u2013 whether you plan to attend the football game or not!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homecoming Football Game: Ravens vs. Waterloo <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre to Celebrate Return of Rare Pipe Organ<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nWhere<\/strong>: Main Hall, Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, 355 Cooper St., Ottawa

Carleton University will celebrate the restoration of its 5,200-pipe Casavant organ \u2013 the centerpiece of its new performing arts space at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre<\/a> \u2013 with an afternoon of storytelling, music and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring a lecture by esteemed organist Frances Macdonnell, a one-hour concert with accomplished organists Thomas Annand, Ian Bevell, James Calkin and Jennifer Loveless, plus an opportunity to tour the centre \u2013 the event showcases local talent and the cultural history of the heritage building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
