Her research has focused on northern economic and political development, Indigenous self-government, policy and programs important to Indigenous people living in cities, policy and program evaluation, qualitative research and citizen engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abele is a former director of the School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton. He was the <em>CBC<\/em>\u2019s parliamentary bureau chief in Ottawa from 1993 to 2001. During his time at <em>CBC<\/em>, he was responsible for all national news specials, federal and provincial elections and election night coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the editor of and a contributor to <em>How Canadians Communicate IV: Media and Politics, with David Taras <\/em>(Mount Royal University), published in May 2012 by Athabasca University Press. He is a strategic communications and public opinion research specialist, consulting widely for public-and private-sector clients. Before journalism, he worked as an assistant to a number of politicians, as well as teaching political studies at the University of Manitoba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adams has participated in or led many electoral observation missions in the Middle East and Africa. His books include <em>Political Parties in Canada<\/em>, <em>Broadcasting Policy<\/em>, and <em>House of Commons Reform<\/em>.
