\n Canadian Foreign Policy Journal Examines Canada, Africa and the Inclusive Trade Agenda\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Carleton University\u2019s David Carment<\/a>, Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI) Fellow, professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs<\/a> (NPSIA) and editor of the Canadian Foreign Policy Journal<\/em><\/a> (CFPJ<\/em>), has released the newest issue of CFPJ<\/em> examining Canada, Africa and the inclusive trade agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The issue focuses on Canada-Africa trade and the Liberal inclusive trade agenda. The guest editors are David Luke, co-ordinator at the African Trade Policy Centre, UN Economic Commission for Africa, and Phil Rourke, director of the Centre for Trade Policy and Law at Carleton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luke says that \u201camong G7 countries, Canada has been a late comer in re-evaluating  the potential of Africa\u2019s emerging economies. With continental GDP at US$2.5 trillion, population at 1.2 billion and several of the world\u2019s fastest growing economies, market integration in Africa through the African Continental Free Trade Area provides Canada with trade and investment opportunities in non-traditional sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rourke adds that articles in this issue \u201chelp define what is meant by an inclusive and progressive trade agenda and why Africa might be the best place to start putting it into practice for the mutual benefit of both Canada and its African partners.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This issue also includes articles ranging from an analysis of Russian press coverage of Russia-Canada relations in the Arctic, the impact of personality on Canada\u2019s burden sharing decision in the coalition against Islamic State, Canada\u2019s engagement with civil society in Afghanistan, and the role of norms and security interests in Canada\u2019s international health policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 1992, CFPJ<\/em> is now Canada\u2019s leading journal of international affairs. CFPJ<\/em> foregrounds quantitative and qualitative methodologies, especially empirically based original studies that facilitate grounded and fresh analysis to serve theory, policy and strategy development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
