However, Nova Scotia is one of the only places on the globe to shed light on this pivotal time. There, the world’s first reptiles and ancestors of our own lineage evolved and established the current patterns of animal diversity we see today.

In this presentation, Maddin will discuss historical fossils and the many new discoveries made by her team over the past five years of field expeditions exploring the record of the Carboniferous period of Nova Scotia.

The Science Café series is organized by the Faculty of Science at Carleton University to discuss relevant issues facing our society and how science can help solve real-world problems.
