\n Carleton to Host Two-Day Space Agency Hackathon\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Carleton University\u2019s Technology Innovation Management<\/a> (TIM) program will host Ottawa\u2019s NASA International Space Apps Hackathon 2019<\/em><\/a>.<\/em> This 48-hour event will bring together developers, designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, astronomers and enthusiasts to compete in challenges designed by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
\n<\/strong>
\nOttawa is one of more than 200 cities participating in this global competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media are invited to attend the following hackathon events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome and Opening Kickoff
\nWhen<\/strong>: Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: Room 311, St. Patrick’s Building, Carleton
\nInfo<\/strong>: A campus map is available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentations, Judging and Award Ceremony<\/strong>
\nWhen<\/strong>: Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, presentations begin at 3 p.m., awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m.
\nWhere<\/strong>: Room 311, St. Patrick’s Building, Carleton<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Space Apps Ottawa 2019 will enable participants to experience, experiment and explore solutions to our universe’s biggest challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five categories of NASA challenges invite participants to use real NASA data to solve problems and explore systems. The categories are: Earth’s Oceans<\/em>, Our Moon<\/em>, Planets Near and Far<\/em>, To The Stars<\/em>, and Living in Our World<\/em>. CSA challenges are related to actual missions and use CSA data to solve problems relevant to Canada. Participants may also invent their own challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the hackathon, CSA staff will be on site. Carleton\u2019s TIM program is a sponsor of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
