As a part of Carleton University’s Science Caf\u00e9<\/a> series, Angelo Mingarelli, professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics<\/a>, will present Leonardo’s Excursions into Mathematics<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this talk, Mingarelli will discuss Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s work in the realm of mathematics \u2013 specifically in the areas of arithmetic and geometry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mingarelli will explore how da Vinci spent close to 20 years trying to \u201csquare the circle\u201d and solve mathematical problems that, today, are known to be unsolvable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Science Caf\u00e9 series is organized by the Faculty of Science<\/a> at Carleton to discuss relevant issues facing our society and how science can help solve real-world problems.
