He will dig into da Vinci\u2019s scientific studies in anatomy and geology and their results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This lecture is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/leonardo2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Cinquecento: Carleton Celebrates Leonardo da Vinci<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Room 1301, Health Sciences Building, Carleton<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: This event is free and open to the public. A campus map is <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/campus\/map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Da Vinci\u2019s scientific studies are connected with his artistic work through the representation of the human figure and landscape \u2013 subjects that represent the microcosm and the macrocosm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture will explore this topic and expand on Laurenza\u2019s research into da Vinci\u2019s anatomical studies and geological work. In particular, the lecture will include new information that has emerged during the preparation of the new edition of <em>Leonardo&#8217;s Codex Leicester<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Domenico Laurenza<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A historian of science and art, Laurenza is a specialist in the history of the relationship between the two fields, the history of anatomy and geology, and has expertise in da Vinci\u2019s work. He is a scientific consultant of Schroeder Arts in New York and Museo Galileo in Florence. He is the author of several books on da Vinci and the Renaissance, including <em>Leonardo on Flight<\/em> and <em>Art and Anatomy in Renaissance Italy<\/em>, among others. Most recently, Laurenza co-curated the forthcoming new edition of <em>Leonardo\u2019s Codex Leicester<\/em> with Martin Kemp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>\nAbout Cinquecento: Carleton Celebrates Leonardo da Vinci<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cinquecento: Carleton Celebrates Leonardo da Vinci is a year-long celebration that looks at da Vinci\u2019s work with fresh eyes. In Italian, \u201cCinquecento\u201d means 500 and, for this series of events, refers to the 500 years since his passing. During Cinquecento, Carleton\u2019s faculties come together to explore da Vinci\u2019s interdisciplinary innovations.
