\n Carleton and TVO Celebrate Launch of the TVO Indigenous Hub at Carleton University\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Carleton University and TVO\u2019s Ontario Hubs will celebrate the launch of the new TVO Indigenous Hub at Carleton\u2019s School of Journalism and Communication<\/a>. The hub and its TVO journalist in residence, Shelby Lisk, will amplify Indigenous voices that are under-represented in today\u2019s current affairs stories and analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indigenous Hub is part of a network of regional TVO studios and journalists in partnership with post-secondary institutions across Ontario.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media are invited to attend the launch of the TVO Indigenous Hub and studio.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TVO’s Ontario Hubs are made possible by The Barry and Laurie Green Family Charitable Trust and Goldie Feldman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Studio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new TVO studio, operated in Southam Hall by Carleton\u2019s Teaching and Learning Services, will also become a valuable resource for Carleton and media outlets seeking expert commentary. Carleton is setting up the studio to connect to networks in Ottawa and beyond, which will allow journalists to interview Carleton experts remotely. More information will be provided in coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Shelby Lisk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lisk is an artist, writer and photographer from Belleville, Ont., close to her roots at Kenht\u00e8:ke (Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the TVO journalist in residence, Lisk will develop current affairs articles and videos for tvo.org, as well as segments for The Agenda with Steve Paikin<\/em>. Her stories will focus on issues relevant to communities across the province and feature Indigenous perspectives and voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lisk has exhibited her work in Canada and the United States. Her writing and artwork have appeared in Red Rising Magazine<\/em>, Hart House Review<\/em> and #NotYourPrincess: Voices of Native American Women<\/em>. She is the recipient of a Governor General’s History award in the Indigenous Arts and Stories category, best “short short” in TVO’s 2019 Short Doc contest, Emerging Indigenous Reporter Scholarship from Journalists for Human Rights, the Helen Nininger Scholarship in Fine Arts, and the Da\u00efm\u00f4n Prize for Photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
