Hosted by non-profit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstroboticscanada.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>FIRST<\/em> Robotics Canada<\/a>\u2019s Carleton chapter, CU FIRST, the event brings together eight high school robotics teams comprising more than 200 students from across the Ottawa region for a live-streamed reveal of the 2020 competition game <em>Infinite Recharge<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the live-stream viewing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, the live webcast begins at 10:30 a.m.<br>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Room 2200, Richcraft Hall, Carleton<br>\n<strong>Info<\/strong>: A campus map is <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/campus\/map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Broadcast from <em>FIRST<\/em> Headquarters in Manchester, N.H., the kickoff will set the rules of the game and launch the robot building season for Ottawa-area teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will all lead to Ottawa\u2019s inaugural <em>FIRST<\/em> Robotics Canada District Competition hosted at Carleton in March 2020. High school students from across Ontario will compete with their robots in an epic challenge that combines sport, science and teamwork while providing real-world engineering experience. Under strict time limitations, students design and build 120-pound robots that compete to complete a variety of tasks. Students construct, program and test their machines using skills in engineering, coding and design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After competing at district events, teams with the highest rankings and awards will go on to April\u2019s Ontario Provincial Championships \u2013 a competition that will decide who will continue to the FRC World Championship in Detroit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>FIRST<br>\n<\/strong><\/em><em><br>\nFIRST<\/em>&nbsp;(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international organization designed to inspire students to pursue further studies and careers in science, engineering, technology and mathematics.
