\n Carleton to Host Expert Discussion Series on What Makes a City Healthy in 2020\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Carleton University\u2019s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences<\/a> will host a series of expert panels to explore the many factors \u2013 from nature and housing to youth and art \u2013 that make a healthy city in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five-part series kicks-off with Climate Change and Sustainability in the City<\/em><\/a>. The panel includes experts Elisabeth Gilmore, scholar in residence at Environment Canada, Prof. Zoe Todd, Department of Sociology and Anthropology<\/a>, and Prof. Sheryl-Ann Simpson, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies<\/a>. Prof. David Hugill, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, will moderate the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nature in the City<\/em><\/a> experts include Prof. John Zelenski, Department of Psychology<\/a>, Prof. Joanna Dean, Department of History<\/a>, and Prof. Paul Villeneuve, Department of Health Sciences<\/a>. Prof. Patricia Ballamingie, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, will moderate the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Housing in the City<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at 7 p.m.
\nWhere:<\/strong> Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel experts for Housing in the City<\/em><\/a> include Ottawa City Councillor Catherine McKenney, Abra Adamo, adviser on Housing Policy and Research at Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and Carleton Sociology PhD candidate Josh Hawley. Prof. Aaron Doyle, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, will moderate the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth in the City<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth in the City<\/em><\/a> panelists include Prof. Jacqueline Kennelly, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Prof. Andrea Howard, Department of Psychology, as well as Jane Rutherford and Anna Aylet from the CHEO Healthy Active Living group. Prof. Chris Webb, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, will moderate the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art in the City<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When<\/strong>: Tuesday, Apr. 14, 2020, at 7 p.m.
\nWhere: <\/strong>Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art in the City<\/em><\/a> will feature experts Prof. Ellen Waterman and Prof. James McGowan of the Department of Music<\/a>. Sandra Dyck, director of the Carleton University Art Gallery<\/a>, will moderate the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
