Inspired by the extraordinary life and times of Ulric Cross, <em>Hero<\/em> recounts events from Cross\u2019s life, from his decorated military service in the Second World War to his involvement in the movement for independence in Africa and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The screening will be followed by a talk by Prof. Michelle Moyd (Indiana University) on labour migrations to and from Africa during the First World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is held in honour of Black History Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When: <\/strong>Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.<strong><br>\nWhere: <\/strong>Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa<strong><br>\nInfo: <\/strong>This event is free and open to the public. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.ca\/e\/film-screening-of-hero-inspired-by-the-life-times-of-mr-ulric-cross-tickets-89050144379\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Registration is available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1941, Cross left his home in Trinidad and joined the Royal Air Force (RAF). By the end of the Second World War, he was the RAF\u2019s most decorated West Indian.
