The five-part series continues with its second panel: <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/cu_event\/healthy-cities-panel-nature-in-the-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Nature in the City<\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When: <\/strong>Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at 7 p.m.<strong><br>\nWhere: <\/strong>Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa<strong><br>\nInfo: <\/strong>Registration is <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/healthy-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media are invited to attend this event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Panel experts include Prof. John Zelenski, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/psychology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Psychology<\/a>, Prof. Joanna Dean, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of History<\/a>, and Prof. Paul Villeneuve, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/math\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">School of Mathematics and Statistics<\/a>. Prof. Patricia Ballamingie, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/geography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Geography and Environmental Studies<\/a>, will moderate the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Villeneuve will discuss his research on the Central Experimental Farm, including the role it has in reducing air pollution and extreme heat.&nbsp; Villeneuve will examine the biodiversity of greenery across Canadian cities and how this can impact health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her talk, Dean will explore the history of Ottawa\u2019s appreciation for the benefits of trees and how it has waxed and waned over time. Dean will share her analysis of Ottawa\u2019s tree canopy cover over time using historical aerial photographs and other visual documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zelenski studies happiness and how people\u2019s experiences with nature are linked to well-being and sustainable behaviours. He will discuss people\u2019s subjective sense of connection with nature and explore theories on why nature might be good for people.
