The collaboration will help the company perform on-ground thrust measurements and emissions tests of small gas turbines. Wearable technology has a variety of applications<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;incl<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">uding health monitoring, gaming<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and fashion. Commercial applications for&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wearable technologies have been mostly limited to health monitoring or accessibility.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">here are still many<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;other<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;potential<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;applications for wearables to improve&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the lives of&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Canadians. Deep learning<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;is part of machine learning and&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is inspired<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;by the structures and functions of the human brain known as artificial neural networks.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csit.carleton.ca\/robert.teather\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Robert Teather<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, professor in the&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csit.carleton.ca\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">School of Information Technology<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;is working with&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Toonrush<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;to examine issues of perspective and point of view in virtual reality (VR) experiences.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A major problem in VR design is&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">controlling&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">viewpoint; unlike traditional film where the&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">shots presented are chosen by the director,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">VR users<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;interactively control their&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">viewpoint<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and this can<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">create<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;barriers in storytelling. A solution&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">may be<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;to disable viewpoint control,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">but this&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">impact<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;feeling of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;immersion.
